There has been so much information floating around the Internet about how LED Christmas lights save up to 90% more energy than incandescent Christmas lights. There is also another special benefit of LED Christmas lights that is worth talking about. There are several different shapes and sizes of LED Christmas lights. This is a document that explains the different types of LED Christmas lights, and the different applications that each can be used for.

Bulb Styles And Sizes

5MM – This unique new lens style provides more of a sparkle effect previously only found with incandescent lighting. Each lens is a 5mm cone with an indented top to provide 180 degrees of light dispersion. A great style for decorating trees and other shrubbery, these strings will enhance any decorative or seasonal lighting display for years to come.

M5 – The M5 lens style is the shape of a traditional mini light bulb. Traditionally used to decorate trees and other foliage (either in the limbs or as a trunk wrap), this versatile light style combines the benefits of LEDs with one of the most popular bulb sizes.

M6 – The M6 lens style is the shape of a traditional mini SUPER light bulb, which is 40 percent larger than a standard incandescent Christmas light bulb. Traditionally used to decorate trees and other foliage (either in the limbs or as a trunk wrap), this versatile light style combines the benefits of LEDs with one of the most popular bulb sizes. The bulbs are approximately 20 percent brighter than M5 LED light bulbs.

C6- The smallest of the “strawberry” shaped lens styles, the C6 is a versatile bulb shape, suitable for decorating both greenery and some building applications. The lens is approximately 1 and 1/8 inch tall by 3/4 inch wide and is typically used in applications requiring more “pop” than provided by smaller lens styles.

C7 – The C7 is the smaller of the two traditional “strawberry” shaped bulbs used for holiday decorating; the LED version is approximately 1.5 inch tall by 1 inch wide. This mainstay of holiday decorating is used to decorate larger trees, building outlines, and other custom applications. The versatile C7 is also used year round as a decorative lighting product as it can dress up everything from retail/commercial areas to special event venues.

C9 – The largest of the holiday lighting bulb styles and also used as a year-round decorative bulb, the C9 is “strawberry” shaped and approximately 2 1/2 inches long and 1 1/4 inch wide. Primarily used for building outlines, rooflines, and large trees, the C9 enables everything from an eye-catching holiday display to strategically placed decorative lighting ambiance. Look to this style throughout the year for a wide variety of lighting projects.

G12 – The G12 lens style is a round shape, approximately one-half inch in diameter. It provides a decorative alternative to the mini light style and can be used primarily to decorate trees and other foliage. Its round shape provides the ability to insert “berries” into trees or plants or just enables a slightly different lighting effect than either the M5 or conical lens styles.

G25 – Primarily a decorative lighting lens shape, the G25 is a round bulb approximately one inch in diameter. It is a great style for decorating special event venues like tents, as well as for dressing up patio areas and walkways. The G25 is a great alternative to traditional lens styles and can be used for short term decorating or year-round.

There is also Snowflake Icicle lights, Rope Light, Pumpkins, Ghosts and other Novelty Christmas lights.
